Day 1 – Cancún (o Playa del Carmen) – Ek Balam – Chichen Itza – Merida
After having breakfast at your hotel, you will depart to visit one of the sites least explored in the area: Ek Balam, which according to a Mayan myth a Black Jaguar the God protected the city. Later we will visit one of the most important Mayan ruins of the Yucatan Peninsula: Chichen Itza, known also as “One of the Seven Wonders of the World”. Absolutely the most visited archaeological site in the peninsula of Yucatan, due to its extraordinary architecture beauty and its geographical location, Chichen Itza was one of the greatest Mayan centers of the Yucatán peninsula. The fusion of mayan centers construction techniques with new elements from central Mexico make Chichen Itza one of the most important examples of the Mayan – Toltec civilization in Yucatan. Several buildings have survived, such as the Warriors’ Temple “El Castillo” and the circular observatory known as “El Caracol”.
Later we will continue our trip to Merida, the capital city of the Yucatan Estate, where you can enjoy walking downtown and delight yourself with the traditional Mexican cuisine in one of the restaurants in the area.
Day 2 – Mérida – Uxmal – Valladolid – Riviera Maya
Early in the morning we will be departing to Uxmal one of the most complex archaeological sites of the area due to the fact that this city was destroyed and rebuilt three times. The architecture of this archaeological site is one of the most authentic examples of the Puuc style. Decorative features such as the three-dimensional masks of the god Chaac, colonnades, the two-headed jaguar, and other iconographic symbols demonstrate Uxmal's position in the most important cultural and commercial circuits of the Maya Classic Era.
Later you will have lunch at a typical restaurant of the area followed by your transfer to Valladolid, a colonial city of Yucatan where you will enjoy a tour of downtown visiting the main places that this city has to offer.
At the end of the day you will be transferred to Riviera Maya for accommodations at the hotel of your choice.
